The Four Abodes

The Shrines of the Char Dham

01

Yamunotri

Source of the Yamuna

The yatra's first halt — the shrine of Goddess Yamuna, set among hot springs and glacier-fed streams in the western Garhwal Himalaya.

02

Gangotri

Source of the Ganga

Where the holy Ganga descends to earth — the temple of Goddess Ganga near the Gaumukh glacier, second stop on the sacred circuit.

03

Kedarnath

Abode of Lord Shiva

One of the twelve Jyotirlingas, standing at 3,500+ metres beneath snow peaks — the most dramatic and revered halt of the yatra.

04

Badrinath

Abode of Lord Vishnu

The final and grandest dham — the temple of Lord Badri beside the Alaknanda river, where the pilgrimage finds its completion.

The Journey

A Journey to the Abode of Gods

Uttarakhand is called Devbhumi — the land of gods — and the Char Dham Yatra is its greatest journey. For Hindus, visiting the four shrines at least once in a lifetime is believed to wash away sins and open the path to moksha; for every traveller, believer or not, it is eleven days through some of the most magnificent mountain country on earth.

The shrines open for roughly six months each year, from April/May to October/November, before the Himalayan winter closes the passes. The traditional route runs west to east — Yamunotri, then Gangotri, Kedarnath, and finally Badrinath — and our 10 Nights 11 Days Char Dham package follows it faithfully from Delhi via Haridwar.

Mountain roads ask for experienced hands. Our drivers have spent years on Uttarakhand's hill routes; your car carries a luggage carrier on top, the same chauffeur stays with you for the entire yatra, and every quote is all-inclusive — fuel, tolls, taxes and driver allowance. Prefer the plains afterwards? Continue to the Golden Triangle, unwind at Nainital's lakes, or begin gently with the Haridwar & Rishikesh tour.

Good to Know

Char Dham Questions, Answered

When is the Char Dham Yatra open?
The four shrines open for around six months each year — from April/May to October/November — and remain closed through the Himalayan winter. Exact dates are announced annually, so confirm before planning your yatra.
In what order are the Char Dham shrines visited?
The traditional order runs west to east: Yamunotri first, then Gangotri, Kedarnath, and finally Badrinath. Our 10N/11D itinerary follows this classic route from Delhi via Haridwar.
How many days do I need for the Char Dham Yatra by car?
Plan 10 nights 11 days for the full circuit from Delhi by road. Short on time? The 5N/6D Do Dham package covers Kedarnath and Badrinath.

Yes — with the right driver. Our chauffeurs have years of experience on Uttarakhand's hill roads, and the same car and driver stays with you for the entire yatra. Read about our private car and driver service.
